Ericsson’s commitment to Tanzania’s digital transformation renewed in recent visit

Ericsson’s (NASDAQ: ERIC) Middle East and Africa leadership team has concluded a working visit to Tanzania, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to advancing connectivity and innovative solutions that propel the country’s digital and sustainable future.

The visit was characterized by a series of meetings and engagements with partners, customers, stakeholders, and industry leaders. Led by Fadi Pharaon, President for the Middle East and Africa, the delegation delved into how the country’s vibrant telecommunications industry can collaborate and leverage Ericsson’s innovation leadership to create unlimited opportunities for individuals, empower businesses, and transform communities.

While commending Tanzania for being one of the first African nations to launch 5G, Ericsson encouraged stakeholders to harness the power of advanced and emerging technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to shape the country’s economic growth and sustainable development.

Ericsson's various initiatives, including Connect to Learn, Digital Labs, Ericsson Educate, and Giga initiatives, are helping equip the youth with digital skills and providing the needed connectivity for Tanzania's digital journey.

Ericsson's history with Tanzania spans over two decades and began with the launch of the country's first 2G network in 2000. Since then, Ericsson has remained a key partner in driving Tanzania's digitalization ambitions through the provision of essential network infrastructure equipment and technology solutions. In a recent partnership announcement, Ericsson has been selected for the 5G rollout as well as the modernization and expansion of existing 4G network across the country.
