Bangladesh’s largest mobile telecommunications operator, Grameenphone has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) to collaborate and drive innovation in AI and Automation in Bangladesh.

The MoU establishes a collaboration framework between Grameenphone and Ericsson, focusing on innovation, growth, and deployment of cutting-edge AI and Automation solutions through technology trials, workshops, and pilot projects.

There will also be external collaborations with industry partners, regulators, and government bodies to foster sustainable innovation and growth in the telecom sector across Bangladesh.

It will leverage Ericsson's expertise and award-winning, industry-leading technology to deliver an even better customer experience by evolving the network to maintain Grameenphone’s position as the leading telecommunications service provider in Bangladesh.

The MoU was signed during Innovate Asia 2024 recently and will enhance and advance the partnership between Grameenphone and Ericsson which began in 1998.

The MoU is aligned with the broader digital transformation goals within Bangladesh's telecommunications landscape. As the country embraces a digital-first approach, the need for robust and efficient telecommunications infrastructure becomes increasingly critical.

Niranjan Srinivasan, Chief Information Officer of Grameenphone, says, “Partnering with Ericsson is a key step towards the telco tech vision of Grameenphone.
