Ericsson today announced it signed a contract with Guangxi Mobile
Communications Company in China to provide the provincial IP backbone network
spanning 8 cities in Guangxi region.

This is Ericsson's first Packet Backbone Network contract with Guangxi Mobile.
The large-scale IP backbone deployment represents Ericsson's strength in
delivering and implementing high-end IP routers to mobile communications operators.

Under the contract, Ericsson will deploy its industry leading AXI 580 and AXI
520 series IP Backbone Routers (based on Juniper Networks M160(TM) and M20(TM)
routers). The carrier-class AXI core routers will enable Guangxi Mobile's IP
network to provide high-speed data services and advanced Internet applications.

Ericsson will also supply extensive customer services, such as installation,
system support, and hardware replacement services. Installation of the
equipment is planned for the end of April 2002.

Upon completion of the project, Guangxi Mobile's network will be equipped to
provide voice, data and multi-media services, and will enhance Guangxi Mobile
capability to migrate their network to support the third-generation mobile communication.

Ericsson is shaping the future of Mobile and Broadband Internet communications
through its continuous technology leadership. Providing innovative solutions
in more than 140 countries, Ericsson is helping to create the most powerful
communication companies in the world.
