Ericsson will provide Golden Telecom with ADSL lines to establish broadband service for several locations in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, and in the Kiev region. The ADSL lines will be delivered using Ericsson's ultra-compact and scalable Ethernet DSL Access solution providing fast Internet access and voice access, as well as Voice over IP (VoIP).

"As the Ukraine's leading provider of integrated telecommunications services to corporate clients as well as telecom operators, Golden Telecom faces the challenge of providing demanding business customers with high-speed data channels," says Mladen Pejnovic, General Director of Golden Telecom. "By choosing Ericsson's reliable solution we are well prepared to provide our customers with next-generation-network services today like Virtual Private Networks, and broadband access."

Ericsson's Ethernet DSL Access enables standard DSL lines to be offered economically at smaller sites, starting from eight subscribers, and uses Ethernet technology to provide cost-effective high-bandwidth links in the 'second mile' network.
"We are pleased that Golden Telecom selected our Ethernet DSL Access solution to build out their broadband network," says Leif Edwall, President of Ericsson Ukraine. "We are honored to help our customer achieve their goals in the fast-growing DSL market and to offer their customers high-speed Internet services in the Ukraine."
