Ericsson to integrate, host, and manage RCC's Mail2Go (SM) service
Ericsson's managed push e-mail and Personal Information Management (PIM) service will make it possible for RCC/Unicel to offer its subscribers real-time wireless access to e-mails, and calendar and contact data on a range of industry-leading mobile devices. Costs are minimized, and mobile bandwidth is used efficiently through compression and control of downloaded data. RCC/Unicel plans to launch the mobile e-mail service, which it is branding Mail2Go, during the second quarter of 2006.
Angel Ruiz, President of Ericsson North America, says: "Mobile e-mail is an essential service that enterprises are demanding. Ericsson's hosted push e-mail and PIM service allows RCC and other operators to target large enterprises, small businesses, mobile professionals, and consumers."
Richard Ekstrand, RCC/Unicel President and CEO, says: "The Mail2Go solution allows our company to leverage our network while offering customers a way to make more productive use of their time away from the office through easy access to business or personal e-mail. Ericsson's mobile e-mail allows us to deliver this service to our customers quickly and easily, while reducing our costs."
Hosting is a part of Ericsson's managed services offering. The global trend towards managed services is accelerating as operators and vendors work in partnership to reduce costs and bring new services to market as quickly as possible. Ericsson has officially announced more than 80 managed services contracts with operators worldwide.
