Ericsson to show the latest in broadband and multimedia at 3GSM 2007

Ericsson strengthens its leading position, showcasing the most innovative technologies at 3GSM World Congress 2007 in Barcelona. Among others, Ericsson will showcase the world's first Long Term Evolution (LTE) demo and the first live demo of MBMS system for Mobile TV broadcasting at its stands  in Halls 7 and 8 at La Fira.
Ericsson's IMS System powers the GSMA sponsored live IMS VideoShare Interoperability Demonstration (IOD).
This demo will show the commercial value of standardization, allowing users to enjoy IMS based services across different devices. As the leading provider of IMS solutions, Ericsson has been selected to enable the GSMA VideoShare IOD, showing that this solution works with all types of devices and services. This demo will be shown on February 13 and 14, from 10:00-11:00am, at the Seminar Theatre in Hall 7.
HSPA on PC cards, embedded modules and fixed-wireless terminals
Ericsson will show the power of true broadband with HSPA in the downlink and uplink, demonstrating this technology on using PC cards from different manufacturers, HSPA Embedded Modules for laptop computers and the latest Ericsson Fixed-Wireless Terminals, showing the strong usage potential of HSPA for mobile and wireless broadband services. These HSPA devices support 7.2Mbps in the downlink and 1.4Mbps on the uplink. Ericsson offers HSPA support on many frequency bands ranging from 850 MHz to 2.6 GHz.
World's first IMS VoIP over HSPA demo
Ericsson is showing IMS Mobile VoIP over HSPA for the first time on a mobile terminal. The demo shown in the Ericsson 3GSM stand is in accordance with the new additions to the IMS standard by 3GPP and TISPAN.
HSPA Evolved
Based on Ericsson's commercial Radio Base Station, HSPA with MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) can double the speed in the downlink up to 28 Mbps. The faster data speeds made possible with HSPA evolution will enhance the user experience for services like mobile broadband and mobile TV while reducing the production cost per gigabyte.
Ericsson and Sony jointly demonstrate the benefits of combining IMS-based personalized TV and Sony's home network based on Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) standards. At the demonstration, users will be able to view digital photos stored in their mobile phones on a living room TV, to use a home gateway for instant messaging between mobile phones outside the home and a living room TV, and be able to access the content stored on their home PC via mobile phones.
IMS Multimedia Telephony
IMS Multimedia Telephony (IMT) allows network operators and service providers to implement new revenue-generating multimedia services quickly and cost-effectively. For the enterprise user the operator can offer Multimedia telephony, presence and instant messaging. Based on IMS it enables operators to evolve their current fixed or mobile telephony offering for both residential and enterprise customers with services like presence, messaging and IP Centrex including mobile extensions.
Converged Multimedia Services over IMS
This is a visionary demonstration utilizing the "any service, on any screen, anywhere" concept. Based on commercially available IMS Common System and a multitude of IMS applications, it shows seamless communication for voice, video, Push to Talk and chat with enrichment of converged media including IMS enhanced IP TV
Me on TV
This demo was jointly developed with TV producer Endemol. At the demonstration of Me-on-TV users will be able to participate in a TV program, Internet site or within a community by using its mobile device as camera. Images and primarily videos can be uploaded or streamed in a live manner, towards the Me-on-TV platforms.
Deep fiber access through GPON/VDSL2
Deep fiber access to the home and to the neighborhood using GPON and VDSL2 technologies will be demonstrated using parallel HDTV (High Definition TV) channels.
Service Aware Packet Core
This demo shows how Ericsson's packet core network can be made aware of the different services transported in the network through packet inspection and act on that information for charging or controlling purposes to increase the user experience and more efficiently use the network resources.
