Swisscom receives highest score ever awarded in connect mobile network test
- Swisscom has scored the highest number of points ever awarded in the connect mobile network test by the consumer magazine and the umlaut measuring institute
- It is also the seventh year in a row that Swisscom has been ranked as the best mobile network in Switzerland
- The result is testament to the continued long-term strategic partnership with Ericsson which began in 2015, and saw Swisscom launch the first commercial 5G network in Europe in 2019
Swisscom has been named the winner of this year’s connect mobile network test, achieving the best possible rating of ‘outstanding’ by scoring 981 points out of a total 1000. The result not only tops the international benchmarks, but is the highest score ever awarded to a communication service provider (CSP) by the consumer magazine and the umlaut measuring institute.
The annual international mobile benchmarking report once again evaluated the categories ‘voice telephony’, ‘mobile data transmission’ and ‘crowdsourcing’. According to the consumer magazine: “Not only did Swisscom receive the rarely awarded rating of ‘outstanding’, but it also achieved the highest score ever recorded in one of our network tests. Swisscom is also ahead overall in 5G. An impressive result!”
Gerd Niehage, Chief Technology & Information Officer at Swisscom, says: "To have won the mobile network test for the 14th time and with such impressive results is a testament to our significant investment in our infrastructure, our excellent partnership with Ericsson and the strong customer centricity of our employees."
Long-term strategic partnership with Ericsson
Ericsson and Swisscom’s strategic partnership began in 2015, and since then the partners have worked continuously to expand its network to ensure that it always offers its customers the very best network quality.
Swisscom’s commercial 5G network has network coverage of 79 percent and download speeds of up to 2 Gbit/s, providing mobile customers in Switzerland with a reliable and fast mobile experience.
In addition to pushing industry leading network performance, the partners are simultaneously driving energy efficiency and sustainability improvements in the network. Swisscom has been running its entire network on 100 percent renewable energy for over 10 years, and in 2023, the partners have saved approximately 10GWh of energy through various energy efficiency measures.
"As a long-standing strategic network supplier to Swisscom, we are proud of our joint success," explains Daniel Leimbach, Head of Customer Unit Western Europe, Ericsson. "When it comes to the use of cutting-edge technology, Swisscom is an innovative pioneer worldwide."
