Telenor Sweden and Ericsson launch managed 5G laptops for the hybrid AI work era

Telenor Sweden is working with Ericsson to transform and advance enterprise IT with 5G connectivity. The solution, Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect, enables Telenor Sweden’s enterprise customers to equip employees with seamless 5G-connected laptops that work straight out of the box, reducing reliance on Wi-Fi, mobile hotspots, and complex IT management. The solution is integrated with Telenor’s new “5G Laptop Connect” service offering. Atea, a leading Nordic and Baltic IT infrastructure provider, is Telenor's first pilot customer of the service, set to begin piloting soon. Meanwhile, Ericsson is rolling out together with Telenor on 5,000 devices at Ericsson Stockholm headquarters, giving employees secure, seamless connectivity via Telenor's 5G network.

Telenor Sweden and Ericsson launch managed 5G laptops for the hybrid AI work era

Through Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect, Telenor can pre-configure laptops with 5G eSIM and secure connectivity before devices reach end users. When powered on, the laptops connect instantly to Telenor’s 5G network without relying on Wi-Fi, hotspots, or manual setup. Connectivity settings are automatically applied based on corporate security requirements and user roles.

Sofia Ahlmark Hyvärinen, Chief Marketing Officer B2B, Telenor Sweden, says: "By expanding our 5G Laptop Connect service together with Ericsson, we provide secure 5G connectivity directly on enterprise laptops from the moment they are switched on. This reduces reliance on Wi-Fi networks, simplifies IT operations and strengthens organizational resilience”.

Sebastian Tolstoy, Head of Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect, Ericsson, says: "Together with Telenor Sweden, we are creating a future-focused ecosystem that enables businesses to embrace the opportunities of an AI-driven, hybrid, digital-first world. We are proud to partner with Telenor Sweden, bringing our technology to enterprises through their nationwide 5G network and strong customer relationships."

In addition to Telenor in Sweden, Ericsson’s Enterprise 5G Connect solution is being launched by operators in the United States, Singapore, Japan, and similar commercial launches will follow during 2026 in other markets, including Spain, Germany and Finland.

For enterprise IT departments, 5G laptop management means simplified operations with no need to manage Wi-Fi infrastructure or configure VPNs manually, enhanced security through built-in eSIM-based VPNs and centralized policy management, cost efficiency with up to 50 percent reduction in network infrastructure costs, and hybrid work readiness with consistent, always-on connectivity for employees working from anywhere.
