Turkcell selects Ericsson to accelerate 5G Advanced innovation

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) has been selected by Turkcell (NYSE: TKC) (BIST: TCELL) to jointly develop, integrate, and deploy advanced Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions. This RAN solution partnership, and an additional Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) covering a broad range of additional advanced capabilities, was announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The collaboration will fast-track the evolution toward 5G Advanced capabilities in the country, leveraging the recent commercial launch of 5G services in Türkiye.

The collaboration focuses on accelerating the adoption of cloud-native and automated network architectures to deliver superior performance and reliability for Turkcell’s customers.

This strategic alignment will accelerate time-to-market for innovative services and reinforce both companies' leadership in the industry by ensuring multi-vendor interoperability for next-generation, open network solutions.

The full scope of the partnership will concentrate on four key technology domains:

• RedCap: Enhance existing 5G use cases and enable new ones by lowering complexity and extending battery life for devices such as smartwatches, other wearables, infotainment modules, FWA CPEs, industrial surveillance cameras and sensors.
• Cloud RAN: Evolving network architecture to be more flexible, scalable, and efficient.
• Service Management and Orchestration (SMO): The companies will explore how Ericsson Intelligent Automation Platform may help implement intelligent, closed-loop automation to optimize network performance, enhance energy efficiency, and reduce operational complexity.
• Intelligent rApps: Collaborating to design, validate, and field-test specialized applications for lifecycle management and sustainable network operations.

This partnership establishes a framework for technical evaluations, joint pilots, and interoperability testing, supported by dedicated working groups and aligned technology roadmaps.

The resulting network will provide the low-latency, high-reliability connectivity required for advanced applications such as augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), smart cities, and industrial IoT, while also supporting more resilient public services in health, transport, and emergency response.
