Meet our ECPs

Listen from some of our Early Career Program participants and how the program has shaped their career in Ericsson.

Heyu Qin

Heyu, Developer

I have joined the Ericsson Early Career Program (ECP) within the Innovate track, based in Gothenburg, Sweden.

How has this program helped you grow?

My experience was limited to product development which aligns well with my academic background and my chosen profession as a Software Developer. But now I know how product decisions are made with careful market evaluation, how the products are manufactured through complex supply chains, and finally how the products are deployed in the customer network through different rotations. The program has broadened my horizon and expanded my networks.

What challenges have you faced and how did you overcome them?

The three different rotations—new roles, new topics, and new colleagues—required me to adapt quickly. It seemed difficult at first, but if you remind yourself to be patient, start small, and accept the learning curve, things will go smoother. One important thing is to stay in touch with your stakeholders and take their feedback; this will ensure that you are heading in the right direction.

Do you have any advice for future candidates?

Last but not least, you will be surrounded by ambitious peers, learn from each other and together, shape the future!

What’s something you wish you knew before joining the program?

I wish I had known you don’t have to be a specific type of person or possess a specific set of skills to be part of the program. I initially thought the program was targeted towards certain types of people, which led to self-doubt. Being in the program, I can truly appreciate our group’s diversity, and how it enhances our collaboration. It is very interesting and insightful. I have learned so much by listening to others’ comments and questions and observing how everyone brings their own expertise and perspective to the table. You need to only be curious, eager to learn, and open-minded  – everything else will fall into place.

How does this program fit with your values and interests?

I believe in the power of diversity and collaboration, especially in a large company like Ericsson where understanding each person's contribution is essential. The program offers valuable exposure to different perspectives across the company, helping align everyone towards shared goals.
