      Challenge

      There is a need to increase efficiency, productivity and sustainability in European ports’ operations.

      Solution

      Ericsson is deploying and piloting 5G and enhanced Augmented Reality (AR) use cases in the port of Livorno. Utilizing 5G connectivity, the project developed a model which allowed for optimized vessel berthing.

      Impact

      The project resulted in significant cost reduction, (EUR 2.5 m), increased productivity and reduction in CO2 by 8.2% per container terminal.
