      Overview

      Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) provides high-speed 5G internet without landlines, but subscribers may move their CPE devices outside designated home locations. This mobility needs to be managed effectively to maintain service quality and capitalize on potential revenue opportunities.

      Challenge

      Managing subscriber mobility introduces challenges, such as verifying new locations and controlling access based on subscription types. Existing solutions can create high signalling loads and operational complexities.

      Solution

      Implement a real-time network-centric site locking solution using network APIs to verify subscriber locations. Automatically restrict access or offer upselling options for additional locations, ensuring service is restored when users return to their home area.

      How it works

      1. FWA User moves their CPE to a new location that is not his home area.
      2. Core network identifies that the user has changed his location (cell based) and reports the location change to CCES
      3. CCES verifies the location with both FWA database and Ericsson Network Location
      4. CCES checks subscriber allowed addresses (locations), and subscription type and accordingly either:
        • Restrict subscriber by changing slice profile ID to “Restricted” slice profile ID and Bar 4G services
        • Throttle the user via QoS API
        • Upsells for a multiple location subscription
      5. When user returns to his home location, the service is automatically reactivated or goes to default QoS as core network reports the change to original location and CCES orchestrates the reactivation of 5G or 4G connectivity after verifying from ENL and FWA database.
