Ericsson Connected Vehicle Cloud wins at 2014 Telematics Update Awards

Ericsson named Best Telematics Service Provider. Solution enables drivers and passengers to access cloud services, and serves as a single point of connection for vehicles in the evolving connected car ecosystem. Ericsson bringing innovation to the automotive space was highlighted by judges as one key differentiator.

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) received the prestigious Best Telematics Service Provider award for its Connected Vehicle Cloud at the 2014 Telematics Update Awards ceremony held June 2 in Novi, MI. Judges noted Ericsson’s strong industry presence that is supported by a focus on new development and innovative use cases. The Annual Telematics Update Awards showcase achievement and innovation by established industry stars and newcomers. The tenth annual awards celebrated every vertical in the telematics industry, and the winners were chosen from more than 500 nominations from across the globe.

Volvo Car Group is using Connected Vehicle Cloud to connect drivers, owners and their vehicles to services available in the cloud via its ‘Sensus Connect.’ The onboard experience combines connected services, infotainment, navigation and audio. Connected Vehicle Cloud is also the platform behind AT&T Drive, an automotive cloud platform that combines telematics services, infotainment and connectivity with developer and partner access in a single cloud service.

Part of Ericsson’s Transport and Automotive offerings, Connected Vehicle Cloud is based on the Ericsson Service Enablement Platform and connects application developers, government organizations, businesses, automotive manufacturers and consumers, and supports existing and future demands on scalability, security and flexibility in the global automotive industry.
