Ericsson Evolved IP Network solution makes operator’s IP infrastructure easier and more flexible for broadband service delivery across all access networks. Deployment will enable VivaCell-MTS to efficiently meet rapidly increasing demand for data services and be prepared for future traffic increase and service expansion challenges. The solution is running on Ericsson SSR 8000 Smart Services Routers – a multi-application router family in the company’s 4GIP networking portfolio.

VivaCell-MTS, Armenia’s leading telecommunications operator, will deploy Ericsson’s (NASDAQ: ERIC) Evolved IP Network to increase mobile network capacity as part of the operator’s Core Evolution project. The solution will enable VivaCell-MTS to cope with massive data growth and accelerate new subscriber service rollouts.

The Ericsson Evolved IP Network solution provides end-to-end transport from radio base stations, small cells and fixed access to packet gateway connections to the internet and other external networks. It is a verified reference solution that has been architected to deliver triple play services and 2G/3G/4G/Wi-Fi over unified IP transport. The SSR 8000 Smart Services Router, a key component of the solution, allows operators to cost-effectively meet the 4th-generation IP network requirements of smartness, simplicity, superior performance and scalability. Deployment of this solution will enable VivaCell-MTS to quickly introduce new services and capacity to enhance the mobile broadband experience for end users.

VivaCell-MTS has chosen the flagship SSR8010 for its 16 Tbps backplane capacity, extensible signaling architecture, easy-to-use administrative interface and sophisticated resiliency features. The router’s ability to support all different types of access networks (2G, 3G, 4G/LTE and Wi-Fi) brings significant cost savings to operators in the form of fewer nodes and simpler network operation.

Ralph Yirikian, General Manager, VivaCell-MTS said: "VivaCell-MTS has always been and remains the indisputable leader and pioneer by offering innovative and quality telecommunication services. We are committed not only to satisfying the demand for higher speed and better quality, but to exceeding the expectations of the market. Deployment of the platform is in line with our strategy of adding new capacity to our network and providing our subscribers with unsurpassed experience."

Dmitry Maselsky, Head of Ericsson in Russia, Armenia and Belarus said: "Growing network complexity and dramatic increase in data traffic drives operators’ need for robust, end-to-end IP transport and packet-based service solutions. Ericsson’s SSR 8000 can scale to meet the bandwidth requirements of even the most demanding applications. The flexibility and capacity of the SSR 8000 platform will allow VivaCell-MTS to enrich user experience and effectively tackle key concerns in terms of LTE expansion, performance management and security."

The Ericsson SSR 8000 family of Smart Services Routers provides operators with a highly scalable, consolidated platform that offers services for both fixed and mobile network infrastructure. The Smart Services Router enables complete network convergence so that subscribers can access services from any devices or locations. The Ericsson SSR 8000 family comprises Smart Services Routers in three sizes that are tailored to different scaling needs.
