MBNL, a joint venture between Three UK and EE, has renewed and expanded its managed services agreements with Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) for a further three years. The new agreement is being expanded to include design, planning and deployment.
Ericsson will continue to be responsible for delivery of central operations and transmission, network performance and optimization, field services and multi-vendor spare parts management services.
The renewed agreement is more outcome-based and customer-centric, providing clear accountability, increased agility and price predictability. Ericsson will also adopt new ways of working when designing, planning and deploying MBNL’s radio access networks.
As a result, MBNL, EE and Three UK will be better able to support coverage and capacity upgrades and new site activations for their respective customers. With Ericsson now responsible for deployment in addition to operations and maintenance, disruption caused by future upgrades will be minimized. Increased agility on the part of the operators will support the rapid introduction of innovative new services.
Pat Coxen, Managing Director at MBNL, says: “With this new contract the customers of EE and Three UK will benefit from seamless coverage and capacity upgrades, and networks that are optimized and managed with minimal impact, coupled with price predictability.”
Valter D'Avino, Head of Western & Central Europe, Ericsson, says: “Ericsson is proud to continue its long-standing relationship with MBNL as provider of managed services for design, planning and deployment supporting their Best Network Strategy.”
