Ericsson wins award at 5G World event

At the award ceremony of the 5G World event in London this week, Ericsson won in the category “Best Plan for Integrating LTE Advanced Pro and 5G.” The successful application involved Ericsson’s approach to work closely together with operators to make sure that 4G investments are 5G-proof. By supporting 4G and 5G on the same radio and baseband products from the Ericsson Radio System portfolio, operators can have a smooth migration to wide-area 5G coverage.

  • Ericsson, Intel, China Mobile Research Institute and China Mobile Jiangsu Company successfully conduct the first live 3GPP-compliant Standalone (SA) 5G New Radio (NR) interoperability tests at Ericsson Lab in Beijing
  • Successful Interoperability Development Testing (IoDT) operating on 3.5GHz, using Ericsson’s 5G NR base stations and the Intel® 5G Mobile Trial Platform (5G NR UE platform)
  • This first multi-vendor SA 5G demo marks another milestone towards the maturity of the 5G ecosystem

Erlang celebrates 20 years as open source

The programming language Erlang supports the development of massively scalable real-time systems with high requirements on reliability. What makes this fact interesting is that Ericsson designed the first version of Erlang in the 1980’s and that it has been available as open source for 20 years. Today it is adopted for the development of banking, e-commerce and on-line gaming applications for example, and the community of users continues to grow.
