Ericsson Year in Review 2021: January to June
Despite the continued challenges posed by the global Covid-19 pandemic, Ericsson started 2021 with significant momentum. 5G milestones and records were achieved throughout the year, while commercial 5G leadership continued and saw the company top 100 live 5G networks globally. Ericsson closed the year with a major acquisition intention, signaling a major statement about the company’s vision of spearheading the development of mobile networks through technology leadership. As the year closes, Ericsson has 168 unique commercial 5G agreements with communications service providers globally, including 105 live 5G networks in 46 countries. Ericsson, Telstra and Qualcomm set uplink speed record of close to 1Gbps using 5G dual connectivity and carrier aggregation
Ericsson, Telstra, and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. have achieved the highest uplink peak rate ever recorded on a commercial network during a live demo in Queensland, Australia. Together, they reached an uplink data speed of close to 1Gbps, paving the way for more seamless experiences in use cases such as live video streaming and social media content sharing.

Ericsson extends 5G Core authentication solution with hardware security module
Ericsson launches its Authentication Security Module solution to broaden security for user privacy, based on a physical dedicated module for central management of authentication procedures in 5G Core networks. The Ericsson Authentication Security Module enables communications service providers to store crypto keys and algorithms in a Hardware Security Module (HSM) augmenting security for markets and use cases that have more strict security requirements. A hardware security module is a device that safeguards and manages digital keys, encryption and decryption functions, including strong authentication and other cryptographic functions.
