Telia and Ericsson run world’s first live 2.2 GBps microwave hop in Oslo
Ericsson chosen as single supplier of Microwave Radio equipment nationwide to Telia Norway, including the latest MINI-LINK 6600 series. Enables Telia Norway to continue to support the increasing capacity demands from customers by expanding and upgrading its transport network towards 5G. A microwave hop in Telia’s live network in Oslo reached a capacity record of 2.2 Gbps in the 38GHz frequency band – a world-first.
Ericsson completes acquisition of German consulting firm
Allolio & Konrad, a consulting firm headquartered in Bonn, Germany, specializes in transforming telecommunications operators’ business operations and IT systems. Ericsson acquired 100% of Allolio&Konrad’s operations, offered employment to all its consultants, and the transaction closed on November 30.
This acquisition will increase Ericsson’s digital transformation capabilities, lead to increased synergies and efficiencies, and support our ICT leadership ambitions.
Citizens take the initiative to improve public safety
The majority of citizens don’t perceive their city as a dangerous place, but only one in three thinks it’s actually safe.
Citizens are no longer prepared to wait for the authorities to offer security solutions. Three in four citizens already use emergency and security apps on their smartphones.
About 40 percent of citizens feel safer when out and about with a smartphone, but having the phone also makes them take more risks.
