Service-Aware Policy Controller
Personalized service offering
Personalized service offerings, allowing service providers to easily launch creative offers based on a wide set of parameters (such as user profile, time of day, location, service type, charging characteristics, and so on) to increase service usage and establish stronger customer relationships as a result of better usability.
Outstanding flexibility and usability
Outstanding flexibility and usability, leveraging SAPC as the most flexible engine on the market to benefit from a high level of programmability and a range of rules. (The use of policies per subscriber or subscriber groups, for example, allows service providers to easily customize their service access rules to match ever-changing market requirements)
Deployment flexibility, with SAPC deployable as a native or virtualized function on top of Ericsson or third-party infrastructure as a service (IaaS), enabling the launch of solutions such as dual-mode 5G Cloud Core, integrated policy and charging, massive and critical IoT, and enterprise core.
Top UX-designed for Policies
Top UX-designed for Policies, SAPC and CCPC with Ericsson Policy Studio provide awesome user experience and are extended to support both PCRF and PCF. It allows short time to market and OPEX decrease for the launch of new use cases. To have an intuitive and understandable GUI guarantees the best user experience for service agility in the policy area, valid for marketing and engineering teams.
Ericsson's policy management market leadership has been recognized by leading industry analyst Current Analysis in their most recent evaluation of the Policy Management market.
“The Ericsson Service-Aware Policy Controller (SAPC) is a leader among compared policy control solutions. Ericsson’s SAPC includes extensive wireless access network and backhaul integration in addition to the company’s own online charging system (OCS)/offline charging system (OFCS), policy control enforcement function (PCEF)/deep packet inspection (DPI) and subscriber data management (SDM) products. These capabilities provide the SAPC with an unparalleled IP network reach supported with strong 3GPP interface compliance and wide, although unnamed, third-party interoperability credentials. Ericsson continues to optimize its policy assets to provide high availability and carrier-grade end-to-end support for VoLTE services and NFV/cloud adoption. Over 200 customer engagements validate Ericsson’s technology, providing the company with deep experience and ongoing exposure to the evolving requirements of the policy control market.”

Centralized policy management functions help reduceCAPEX and OPEX. With the SAPC you are able to set policies on a per-user or per-user-group basis, giving them the flexibility to customize service access rules to match changing market requirements.
The SAPC is designed to work as a Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) in IMS networks and in the Evolved Packet Core (EPC) network architecture according to SAE.
The SAPC product is an important component of our solutions for broadband networks, which include Evolved Packet Core (EPC), mobile telephony evolution with VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling, and BSS services, to name a few. SAPC is also a central piece of our dual-mode 5G Cloud Core solution.
Compliant with 3GPP standards, SAPC is fully inter-operable with other network elements, including packet gateways (PGWs), standalone deep packet inspection (DPI) nodes, Session Management Functions (SMFs), Access and Mobility Management Functions (AMFs), Application Functions (AF), User Data Repositories (UDR), and charging system units.
