Training update: ENM focus

Ericsson Network Manager provides a Unified Network Management for Radio, Core and associated Transport nodes and is designed to support and enable the transformation of both networks and operations to a future of hybrid networks consisting of a mix of Physical and Virtual Network Functions (PNFs and VNFs). It is imperative for operators to learn how to utilize this Network Manager which has replaced older OSS products and implement the knowledge gained to ease their day to day tasks.

Sampurna Chakraborty, Strategic Product Manager of Ericsson Learning Services says, “The ENM Learning Portfolio has been quite instrumental for customers as it caters to blended learning needed by learners today. It aims to develop a solid foundation of ENM followed by Operations training aimed to achieve RAN, Core and Transport operational dexterity through ENM. It also offers various flavors of System Administration training to develop skills needed by professionals who manage the platform and administrative rights to perform restrictive tasks. We are witnessing a need for remote solutions to meet these demands and the balance of Digital and Instructor-led training in ENM Portfolio is perfectly designed to meet that”.

What is new in ENM portfolio in H1 2021?

Ericsson Network Manager 21 is GA in February 2021. It is exciting to share that the entire suite of ENM fundamentals as well as ENM Operations training for RAN, Core and Transport are offered as Digital on-demand learning. It’s easy to administrate and the learning paths can be personalized, addressing the individual needs of each learner. During these multi-hours training, the learner can watch the instructor imparting the learning objectives theoretically as well as through multiple demonstrations. Testing on knowledge is possible through quizzes. The System Administration training for Integrated ENM, for ENM on Open Stack, Small Integrated ENM for multi-technology as well as for Transport is introduced for specific deployment types and offered as Instructor-led training which is tailored to be delivered remotely. Apart from this, for a matured learner, ENM 21 Delta Q1 will be available followed by ENM Delta Q3 in H2 2021. The Digital Delta training cover all the intermediate knowledge gaps created due to intermediate releases of the product every quarter. Ask the Expert support is available for learners who would like to interact with instructors after attending Digital training which helps immensely in clarifying doubts or reiterating topics.

What is aimed for advanced learners?

As ENM is getting matured in the market, so is the knowledge base amongst our valued learners on how to use and administer ENM in the transformation projects. Following the Operations and System Admin Training, learners can move on with ENM Troubleshooting, Geo-Redundancy as well as Python and REST in ENM. Most of the ENM courses are also part of the Training Portfolios of Radio Access Network, Core Network and Transport Network. ENM Delta Training provides excellent opportunity to candidates who have already attended a training from an earlier release and is interested to grasp the updates only. Delta trainings are delivered mostly through sufficient demonstrations so the learner can apply the knowledge directly after attending the training.

How is ENM digital training perceived by customers so far?

ENM digital training is extremely popular amongst customers as it provides the  opportunity to attend the training on demand from any location. In the past year, despite the challenging situations of travel restrictions approximately 1500 individual customers benefited from ENM digital training. This data is outside those large customer base who are part of All Access Plans. Feedback received from customers have been at 95% level satisfaction at an average. This is quite assuring for hard-core technical training.
