Ericsson boosts TV experience for Sun TV subscribers in India

Ericsson’s video compression solution, AVP 4000 Family, enables Sun TV to deploy a highly efficient and flexible broadcasting infrastructure. The new technology will power all 33 Sun TV channels broadcast in India. 95 million Sun TV subscriber households to benefit from superior quality experience.

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) today announced that Sun TV, the broadcast arm of Sun group in India, has chosen the Ericsson’s AVP 4000 Family of system encoders to boost TV viewing experience for its TV subscribers.

The solution, based on Ericsson video processor chipset is the industry’s leading video compression solution offering the best quality with the highest compression efficiencies. It enables Sun TV to further enhance their end customer’s viewing experience while enabling them to add additional capacity to the broadcast bouquet. Ericsson is also providing systems integration services to Sun TV.

Ericsson predicts that by 2020, there will be 50 billion connected devices, 15 billion of which will be video enabled. To meet the changing consumer demand, operators must deploy new services within the often-tough constraints of bandwidth, spectrum and legacy networks.
