Ericsson 120-year journey in Thailand
Digital upskilling to build Thailand’s workforce and accelerate digital transformation
In addition to bringing world-leading connectivity solutions to Thailand, Ericsson is also committed to enabling a future-ready workforce. The integration of Ericsson Educate, the Company’s global online course, into depa’s Digital Skills Roadmap, will provide Thai youth and the nation’s workforce with the foundational knowledge in AI and 5G, prerequisites to power the next era of digital transformation.
Ericsson Educate, the company’s flagship education initiative currently deployed in more than 30 countries globally will be available for all of depa’s learners at no cost, with the most updated content curated from Ericsson global experts ready to access at any time. The program will support depa’s goal of producing at least 1 million digital talents per year.
“Celebrating 120 years in Thailand is a testament to our enduring dedication to the nation’s progress. We have grown alongside Thailand, building the infrastructure that has kept the country connected through decades of change. We are committed to further driving Thailand’s future connectivity to support the growth and digital transformation of government and industry,” says Anders Rian, Head of Ericsson Thailand.
“Thailand is currently positioned as a regional 5G frontrunner but to harness the full potential of 5G and achieve Thailand 4.0 requires continued public-private partnerships, including the upskilling of Thailand’s youth and workforce. We are therefore delighted to be part of depa’s Digital Skills Roadmap,” states Anders.
“We are proud to work alongside Ericsson to bring their global expertise directly to the next generation of Thai talent. As we launch ‘Coding Thailand 2026: AI Inspires the Future,’ Ericsson’s cutting-edge connectivity and technological perspective are invaluable. We are eager to benefit from their global insights, which will help our youth move beyond digital literacy toward becoming the innovative architects of Thailand’s digital future,” says Dr. Supakorn Siddhichai, Acting President/CEO of depa.
Since 1906, Ericsson has partnered with the industry to transform the telecommunications landscape of Thailand across generations of connectivity – 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G and now 5G. Ericsson conducted Thailand’s first live 5G trial in 2017 and helped launch 5G commercially in 2020.
Through decades of early R&D initiatives, innovation and leadership in standardization, Ericsson has built the foundation for today’s 5G world. Today, Ericsson provides 5G in 80 countries across 5 continents, supporting 189 live networks and carrying around 50% of the world’s 5G traffic outside China.
