Ericsson in Malaysia

Ericsson made its first inroads into Malaysia way back in 1965 when it signed with Telekom Malaysia for the delivery of a crossbar switch. Post 1970, Ericsson initiated factory production for cables and AXE telecom exchanges. Later, we initiated the country’s first AXE telecom exchange in Southeast Asia in 1980 and went on to powering the country’s first telecom network with Telekom Malaysia.

Across multiple generations of connectivity in a story spanning more than 56 years, Ericsson is proud to be a key partner playing a vital role throughout the country’s telecommunications history. As we power the country to a 5G future, we are committed enabling a world class 5G experience, bridging the digital divide and transforming Malaysia.

The MY5G Ericsson Malaysia Pioneers Programme is the first customized learning course on 5G and advanced digital technologies, designed by Ericsson and Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB). This programme gives the learners a good introduction to the world of artificial intelligence, IoT, virtual and augmented reality, and even more technologies coming in the future. The programme is curated to enable learners of all backgrounds to utilize the knowledge in their fields of interest.

Powering education in Malaysia

Strengthening our commitment to Malaysia and bridging the digital divide, we have partnered with the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and the Digital Nasional Berhad to launch the Ericsson Educate program.

The unique program provides inclusive learning opportunities for students with access to learning material on key technologies which include 5G networks, artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, blockchain, cloud computing, data science, IoT and telecommunications. The program is a key step towards developing a 5G ready workforce in Malaysia which can support the government’s MyDigital vision.
