Diversity is not just a buzzword for Ericsson in LATAM North and the Caribbean; it is a way of life. With a rich tapestry of 39 territories, 7 different languages, and a legacy dating back over a century, the region boasts a vibrant mosaic of cultures, identities, and experiences. At Ericsson, we recognize that diversity is not just a checkbox to be ticked off once a year; it is a continuous celebration that enriches our company and empowers our people.
To champion this ethos, Ericsson established the D&I Move 4 Equality Employee Resource Group in 2023. Comprising volunteers from across the region, the group is committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive workforce, ensuring that each person has the opportunity to succeed and offer their distinct viewpoints. Through a proactive strategy that includes surveys, webinars, events, and active participation, the group aims to create a genuine sense of belonging and ensure that our policies and practices reflect the diversity of our workforce.
One such notable event was Ericsson's participation in the Mexico City Pride Parade, where around 30 employees proudly represented the organization as champions of diversity and love in all its forms. This marked a historic moment as members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies paraded with music and flags, symbolizing Ericsson's commitment to equity, inclusion, and a discrimination-free workplace.
Why is it so important to celebrate diversity? For Ericsson, diversity and inclusion are both moral and strategic business imperatives. A diverse and inclusive workplace not only attracts the best global talent but also nurtures innovation and delivers greater value to our customers. By embracing diversity, we become a stronger, more resilient company that is better equipped to meet the challenges of an ever-evolving global market.
This commitment to diversity is deeply rooted in Ericsson's history. From its inception, the company has embraced the power of diversity and collaboration. Founders Lars Magnus Ericsson and Hilda Ericsson worked hand in hand, recognizing the value of different voices and experiences in shaping the company's success. Today, Ericsson continues to honour this legacy by ensuring that all voices have a seat at the table, driving better and fairer decisions for our people and our business.
As we continue our journey, Ericsson remains steadfast in its dedication to transforming and implementing practices and policies focused on Diversity and Inclusion. While there is still much progress to be made, we are immensely proud of the passionate and strong team leading the charge in Latin America North.
We will continue sharing our D&I Move 4 Equality activities to embrace our shared commitment to learning and raising awareness about the LGBTQ+ community, neurodiversity, people with different abilities, and indigenous peoples.
Diversity is not a once-a-year event for us at Ericsson. It is a constant celebration of the rich multiplicity of human experiences that make us stronger, more innovative, and more resilient as a company. By embracing diversity and fostering a culture of inclusion, we are not just shaping a better future for our employees, but also for the communities we serve and the world at large. Join us in celebrating diversity, and together, let's build a more inclusive and equitable tomorrow.
