AfricaCom

AfricaCom 2024

In November 2024, Ericsson South Africa participated in the 27th edition of AfricaCom — Africa’s largest and most influential tech and telecoms event — held in Cape Town. The city witnessed the largest gathering of the brightest minds in telecommunications - industry leaders, innovators, and visionaries shaping the future of connectivity across the continent.

The edition was held under the theme "Empowering Networks for the Future: Accelerating Africa’s Digital Future and Sustainable Growth." reflecting a growing urgency to build scalable, sustainable, and future-ready digital infrastructure that supports Africa’s socio-economic development. AfricaCom served as an inspiring platform for collaboration, idea-sharing, and networking, enabling stakeholders across the public and private sectors to align on strategies that will drive digital inclusion and innovation throughout Africa.

Empowering Young Minds Through Digital Skills

In early 2020, Ericsson South Africa partnered with the Wot-if? Trust to launch the Digital Lab Program in Diepsloot, aimed at equipping young learners with essential digital skills. The initiative targets children between the ages of 11 and 14, providing them with access to technology, education, and mentorship in a safe and supportive environment.

Since its launch, the program has delivered over 30 hours of hands-on training and culminates each year in a graduation ceremony that celebrates the achievements of these young learners and inspires them to continue their digital journeys.

This collaboration reflects Ericsson’s long-standing commitment to education, digital inclusion, and youth empowerment — helping to bridge the digital divide and build a brighter future for the next generation in South Africa.
