Ericsson Cloud Manager recognized as Best NFV Innovation of the Year. Cloud management system is an important component to allow operators to realize revenues from new services driven by LTE and NFV, as well as cost savings from more efficient operations.

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) today announced that Ericsson Cloud Manager won the LTE Asia Award for Best NFV Innovation of the Year as part of Informa Telecoms & Media’s LTE Asia Conference in Singapore. The LTE Asia Awards celebrate the triumphs and innovations of the LTE and 5G market in Asia.

Ericsson Cloud Manager enables the creation, orchestration, activation, and monitoring of services running on virtualized IT and programmable network resources at consistent levels of quality. With Ericsson Cloud Manager cloud resources are no longer confined to a single data center, but rather are spread throughout the network, to help improve both internal operations and service quality.

Sherrie Huang, Research Programme Head, Asia–Pacific, Analysys Mason and one of the award judges says“The opportunity that the cloud offers to operators – the ability to deliver the same quality of services at a lower cost – comes with its challenges,”. “To realize the revenue and operational efficiency potential of the cloud, operators must have cloud management that is accurate, reliable and agile. Ericsson’s Cloud Manager leverages the company’s leadership in telecom OSS software and provides a comprehensive cloud management solution to support operators.”

Ericsson Cloud Manager enables operators to realize revenues from new services as well as cost savings from more efficient operations – even for existing services. This cloud management system provides the speed, agility, and accuracy needed to deliver higher levels of innovation (and related service quality) at the lowest cost possible.

Chris Houghton, Head of Region North East Asia, Ericsson says “As operators plan to maximize the benefits of their LTE implementations, Ericsson Cloud Manager provides them with a well-structured software platform with analytics, automation and orchestration capabilities that’s necessary for a more cohesive LTE business. With these capabilities, operators are able to turn the cloud into a source of operational efficiency and new revenue generation, as well as provide the high level of service quality required by demanding customers.”

Ericsson Cloud Manager is currently being deployed with Japanese operator NTT DOCOMO, INC. NTT DOCOMO will leverage Cloud Manager for its network virtualization platform and cloud-based virtualized evolved packet core (EPC) network for the commercial deployment in a multi-vendor environment. Ericsson Cloud Manager and Ericsson Cloud Execution Environment will support NTT DOCOMO with enhanced flexibility of network deployments and operations to improve its efficiency, speed up new and innovative service introduction, and increase network resilience. Ericsson Cloud Manager is deployed in several additional proof-of-concept initiatives and commercial operations with over a dozen Tier 1, 2 and 3 operators from around the world.

Operators must become agile as they support services across networks, offer a range of plans and push the limits of innovation. Ericsson helps customers meet changing demands with a comprehensive, unified OSS and BSS product suite that combines business, IT and network capabilities. A team of more than 65,000 service professionals supports these offerings with services such as consulting and systems integration, managed services, product related services and broadcast services. Ericsson’s market leadership is underscored by the company’s breakthrough work with customers to improve the subscriber experience, capture new revenues and boost business efficiencies. As a result, Ericsson remains positioned for ongoing success, driven by the continually surging demand for data services.
