Ericsson and Vodafone run first live demo of pre-standard 5G in Ireland
Vodafone Ireland and Ericsson have achieved multi-gigabit per second speeds and low latency results in the first successful live demonstration of pre-standard 5G technology in Ireland.
The live 5G test, conducted during an immersive exhibition of future technology at the Douglas Hyde Gallery held recently, showed 15 Gbps speeds with a latency of less than five milliseconds. The two companies also tested pre-standard 5G across Vodafone’s 3.6 GHz spectrum. Real-life customer applications ranging from remote experts and augmented reality – to high speed, low latency, and immersive gaming – were highlighted at the event.
