Ericsson extends 5G Core authentication solution with hardware security module

Ericsson launches its Authentication Security Module solution to broaden security for user privacy, based on a physical dedicated module for central management of authentication procedures in 5G Core networks. The Ericsson Authentication Security Module enables communications service providers to store crypto keys and algorithms in a Hardware Security Module (HSM) augmenting security for markets and use cases that have more strict security requirements. A hardware security module is a device that safeguards and manages digital keys, encryption and decryption functions, including strong authentication and other cryptographic functions.

Ericsson Mobility Report - India market overview

  • 4.4 billion 5G subscriptions are forecast for the end of 2027 globally equaling around half of all mobile subscriptions at that time
  • 5G will represent around 39 percent of mobile subscriptions in India at the end of 2027, estimated at about 500 million subscriptions.
