Ericsson and SoftBank trial 5G in 4.5GHz band
Ericsson is continuing to support SoftBank Corp., a subsidiary of SoftBank Group Corp., with 5G Proof of Concept (PoC) activities. The two companies are set to conduct a joint end-to-end trial of 5G in the 4.5GHz band in the urban areas of Japan.

Ericsson and partners showcase first-of-its-kind CBRS demonstration
In a US-industry first, Verizon, Ericsson, Qualcomm Technologies - a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated - and Federated Wireless have announced the first ever use of CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) band 48 spectrum in an LTE Advanced carrier aggregation demonstration. The news follows other recent announcements of industry leadership from Qualcomm, Ericsson and Verizon including successfully reaching speeds over 1Gbps on LTE.
SmarTone and Ericsson trial LAA on live network
- Conducted Hong Kong’s first-of-its-kind live License Assisted Access (LAA) field trial, a technology innovation enabling faster speed and capacity benefits to enhance user experience
- Demonstration was conducted in SmarTone live network using Ericsson’s Radio 2205 in tandem with 70 MHz of aggregated licensed and unlicensed spectrum, showcased blazing download speeds at around 800Mbps
Zain Iraq to deploy Ericsson virtual EPC
- Zain Iraq partners with Ericsson to upgrade its existing network using Ericsson virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC), addressing customers’ growing data usage
