Tampnet selects Ericsson for LTE and virtualized core network

Ericsson selected to upgrade Tampnet’s existing 2G network in the Gulf of Mexico with new GSM and 4G/LTE equipment including microwave backhaul with MINI-LINK. Complete network functions virtualization solution deployed as EPC-in-a-box, including Ericsson Virtual Evolved Packet Core and Ericsson Cloud Execution Environment. Upgrade will enable Tampnet to offer gulf-wide 4G/LTE coverage to the region’s oil and gas industry.

University research network to become 10 times faster

Ericsson Denmark has entered into a new agreement with the Technical University of Denmark on behalf of DeIC to deliver optical transmission equipment for its research network. DeIC runs the high-speed research network connecting around 100 Danish universities and research institutions with each other and the rest of the world. The contract commences a 10-year collaboration with DeIC and will enable data traffic with speeds up to 100 Gbit/s.
