Ericsson 5G standalone technology powers Movistar’s most advanced network
- Movistar launches 5G+ to consumers, enterprises, and society in Spain, and has activated 5G standalone in 11 cities
- Ericsson’s 5G core network technology combined with its radio access network (RAN) will enable Telefónica to create a unique offering and experience and introduce the most advanced functionalities such as ultra-low latency, high throughput and massive number of connections.
- Movistar, which already covers more than 700 municipalities throughout Spain with 3.5 GHz, will accelerate the mid-band deployment during the second half of the year with the aim of reaching around 1,000 locations by the end of 2023.
