Ericsson Korea Partners (here-after Ericsson Korea), formerly known as Ericsson-LG, announced the appointment of Dr. Sibel Tombaz as its new CEO, effective from April 1, 2025.

Dr. Tombaz brings extensive experience in 5G, and Cloud RAN technologies, having led Ericsson’s Product Line Cloud and Purpose-Built 5G RAN from Stockholm. Since joining Ericsson in 2014, she has played a pivotal role in 5G innovation, product strategy, and energy-efficient network solutions, including the award-winning Ericsson Spectrum Sharing technology.

“We are excited to welcome Sibel to this leadership role,” said Chafic Nassif, Senior Vice President and Head of Market Area North East Asia of Ericsson. “She will build on the strong foundation we have established in South Korea, leveraging her deep R&D background and business insights. Her expertise and vision for innovation will strengthen our presence in South Korea and accelerate digital transformation in the region.”

Commenting on the appointment, Dr. Tombaz said: “South Korea has long been a leader in mobile technology and a hub for innovation, supported by significant government investments. I believe we can further expedite the growth of South Korea’s mobile industry by harnessing the power of advanced 5G, AI and API. I am thrilled to collaborate with Korean communication service providers to deliver high-performing, AI-native, programmable networks that will enable differentiated connectivity for all.”
