How high-performing connectivity at big events drives loyalty

Eventgoers in busy environments such as sports and entertainment venues experience heightened emotions. And, they expect seamless mobile connectivity to capture and share these moments with the world.

5G connectivity: Preparing for high-performing networks

Managing demand from mobile users during major events, as seen in Europe in summer 2024, is a complex task. Communications service providers face the dual challenge of meeting increased demand while ensuring flawless user experiences. To prepare for these events, service providers began enhancing the network infrastructure at least a year in advance. This proactive approach ensures the network can handle the increased demand.

Mobile network performance is closely linked to the number of users and the traffic load. With fewer users, performance is good, but as more users access the network, performance degrades. To maintain satisfactory service levels in high-traffic situations, two primary actions are necessary: capacity expansions with new radio equipment and network densification with additional sites.
