      Currently, we employ more than 2,200 employees in Spain. Our R&D centers here make us an innovation reference country for the company in Europe and the rest of the world.

      Join Ericsson R&D centers

      R&D Madrid

      The Madrid R&D center leads the technological development to create the telecommunications networks of the future. It develops technologies, products and services deployed in over 300 operators in 180+ countries. It researches and leads the standardization of network architectures in organizations like 3GPP and IETF, and contributes to the generation of essential patents for the Ericsson group.

      It has more than 600 highly qualified professionals, of more than 20 nationalities, who work in an international context, and promotes collaboration and transfer of competence with other R&D centers of the Ericsson group. The center collaborates closely with the university in the creation of pioneering postgraduate programs in Europe that prepare the professionals of the future in the area of ​​​​5G network development.  

      R&D Málaga

      The Ericsson R&D Center in Malaga has more than 150 engineers from more than 23 nationalities who lead the company's global efforts to enable best performing networks. 

      In this center, the latest ML and AI technologies are used to design the software that optimizes the performance of the mobile network, resulting in 9.5 m cells optimized globally by AI/ML algorithms and supporting 50 commercial customers worldwide.

      Recently the center has also embarked in the development of rApps using Ericsson Intelligent Automation Platform ​(EIAP). Since its creation, it has actively collaborated with the University of Malaga, engaging in joint R&D initiatives that fostered the creation of disrupted technologies.
