Imagine the network efficiencies that could be gained if radio frequency bands and traffic were managed automatically through artificial intelligence... 5G coverage could be secured and the user experience would never suffer. We now enable a unique means of optimizing the radio access networks: by adding AI to the baseband. Our new AI functionalities are optimized for the RAN Compute architecture and havethe advantage to run close to the radios, bringing down feedback loops to less than 10 milliseconds.
The AI algorithms analyze vast amounts of traffic data and network load in real time, without impacting the capacity of the network. This enables instant traffic predictions in the network, without the need for extra hardware, and without site visits. So, whether it’s secure extended 5G coverage you’re after or improved LTE performance, AI from Ericsson will get you further.

The latest capabilities
Advanced traffic management
Our new AI capabilities further optimize the distribution of traffic, and will be available with the 5G Plug-Ins. These functionalities provide extended 5G coverage, and more intelligence for the dynamic distribution of users across frequencies improving the user experience.
Evolved carrier optimization
We additionally introduce AI functions for LTE that enable a four times greater LTE uplink throughput and an improved user experience to a broad ecosystem of high-end smartphones.
Superior user experience
A better experience for users of both 5G and LTE devices. With four times more uplink capacity, and a prediction based carrier aggregation, our AI capabilities are now making smartphones even smarter.
Improved network performance
The continuous analysis of surrounding cells enables our AI to improve network performance significantly. With AI on the RAN Compute, the feedback loops are instant and the network decisions are smarter. What's more, 5G coverage improves by up to 25 percent.
Service providers will see spectrum efficiency gains and cost savings. No extra hardware is required. No site visits are necessary. It's simply a matter of upgrading to the latest release and enjoying a smoother 5G rollout.
