rApps for better network deployment

Efficient deployment has always been a top priority for both Service Providers and Ericsson. In this session, we’ll demonstrate how these rApps accelerate network rollout, enhance configuration consistency, and elevate the user experience.

The challenge

The rApps that Ericsson and other companies are developing cover use cases of the whole network lifecycle, from Evolution to Healing. But network deployment is another area where rApps can be a real game-changer.

Networks are now a lot larger and more complex to manage. We have with new frequencies, new solutions and functionalities. Today, even a simple software deployment can turn into a major challenge.

Streamlining and simplifying this process is where rApps really excel.

How rApps improve network deployments

rApps are able to process information from different sources and can reduce effort in certain rutinary tasks that need to be done during deployments. Specifically, when focusing on the deployments, one of the main impediments is the inconsistency created from having several engineers and automations configuring new equipment and making changes to optimize the parameters and achieve the performance targets.

For these cases, applications such as the Automated Configuration Consistency rApp  will detect and fix any inconsistency or misconfiguration in minutes, making much faster any deployment and improving the user experience.

In this video, we cover, how the rApp ecosystem help enable faster and smoother deployments.

How these rApps leverage the Open RAN SMO

The rApps run in an Open RAN SMO platform. This platform can manage rApps in a multivendor network environment, and allows to use other rApps from the Ericsson, CSPs or even other companies.

The Automated Configuration Consistency rApp leverages the Open RAN SMO platform by using the configuration data that is collected from any type of network to Ericsson Intelligent Automation Platform (EIAP) and compare it with a predefined configuration and rages, and fix it automatically independently on the network vendor or RAN type.

Why are rApps better

Using rApps, communication service providers will be able to overcome a wide variety of network management challenges, delivering significant benefits in terms of operational cost, network service performance and resource utilization. Compared to legacy automations, rApps are more flexible, agile, and scalable, and will transform the way we supervise and optimize our networks.

Deployment rApps are better than legacy automations in terms of multivendor support, efficiency and scalability.

rApp examples

The Automated configuration consistency rApp is a great example. Even in massive networks, it analyses individual cells to detect configuration discrepancies and inconsistencies.
