Ecosystem collaboration drives innovation

The industry is at an inflection point, where 5G and the ecosystem are set to unleash a wave of innovation. Service providers have recognized the potential of 5G and are beginning to monetize it through innovative service offerings that extend beyond data plans. However, further deployment of standalone (SA) and mid-band is essential for realizing the full value of 5G. 5G SA in particular is being recognized as a catalyst for new business opportunities, including differentiated connectivity services.

June key findings


5G subscriptions accounted for over one-quarter of total mobile subscriptions at the end of 2024. Growth in 5G mid-band population coverage varies between regions, only recently exceeding 50 percent coverage in Europe. Mobile network data traffic continues to grow, but with a declining year-on-year growth rate. As 5G evolves, service providers are increasingly exploring innovative use cases and new monetization opportunities by offering differentiated connectivity services.
