Data residency
A critical concept for On-Demand, data residency specifies the geographical location where application data is stored and processed. This includes the infrastructure housing sensitive data, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance by keeping data within specific national or regional boundaries.
Stringent data handling requirements from global regulations like EUs general data protection regulation (GDPR) necessitate that organizations prioritize data residency to mitigate legal risks and enhance data governance.
Customer data associated with a Core On-Demand instance, including configuration data, metrics, and logs, are stored in the same zone as the instance's deployment. This approach not only ensures compliance with regional data residency requirements but also facilitates efficient data access and management.
The commitment of Core On-Demand to data residency within designated geographic areas ensures that its customers can effectively address privacy considerations, fulfill regulatory obligations, and optimize latency and performance.
Data retention
Data is retained until a Core On-Demand instance has been deleted by the customer. Upon deletion of a Core On-Demand instance, the associated data and the instance details are retained for an agreed upon retention time before being permanently erased.
