The Ericsson Radio Dot system is designed to address both consumer and business user’s performance expectations indoors and to remove broadband capacity bottlenecks in large buildings. The Radio Dot features an innovative antenna element that, together with a distributed architecture with centralized baseband, enables the provision of high-level mobile broadband coverage for different kinds of users and spaces.

Dual Band Radio Dot

The Dual Band Dot, part of the Ericsson Radio Dot System, enables high performance voice and data coverage and capacity in the broadest range of enterprise buildings and public venues, including the underserved, high growth, medium-to-large building and venue category.

The Dual Band Dot combines two frequency bands in one form factor to simplify deployment, reduce cabling costs, and leverage available spectrum.  The Dual Band Dot enables multi-operator deployments and is compatible with current mounting brackets for the Radio Dot System.  The product also holds the same environmental specifications as the current Radio Dot.

Hardened Radio Dot for Outdoor and Stadium Deployments

Hardened DotMeeting the increasing capacity requirements of large stadiums and outdoor venues can be challenging.  Seating configurations, the stadium design itself, and the need for additional headend expansion can make designs complex and time consuming. Furthermore, outdoor and venue deployments require protection against the elements when considering technology options.

The new hardened Radio Dot System has been designed to meet stringent IP66 environmental ratings to enable operators and outdoor site owners to cost effectively deploy high performing LTE/WCDMA networks in large outdoor venues. The hardened RDS solution offers:

  • Scalable capacity via RDS software features like Combined Cell that allow operators to cell split dynamically without additional hardware or field visits
  • Co-existence with an existing DAS as a capacity densification layer
  • Supports LTE-Advanced features such as 256QAM, D-MIMO, and Carrier Aggregation
  • Enterprise LAN cabling makes installation easy and quick as compared to expensive and bulky traditional coaxial cable
  • Reduced headend footprint and power requirements
  • Increased operational flexibility  via several features
    • Combined Cell software allows on the fly cell splitting to accommodate increased traffic demand without requiring field changes
    • Ability to shape RF coverage at each DOT location in order to better manage interference and improve user experience RF shaping (reduced interference)
    • Full 3GPP software feature parity across the cellular network
